Now I'm going to cheat here because I do not have a WIP, unless you count this stubborn short story--WHY WON'T YOU BE WRITTEN??? Instead, I'm digging out a trunked novel, Ghost's Rain--and yeah, I cringe at that title. Should I ever return to it, I have a much better named planed for it.
It's a dystopia, set in a alternate world, starring the badass heroine Ghost.

As you can probably tell, it was a story with a lot of heavy themes, grand ideas, and I didn't have the writing chops at the time to comprise it all. I wrote about 20,000 words, rewrote the intro 3 times before calling it quits. Still love the story, and will probably harvest the epilogue for a short story--nice thing about trunked novels is that they make excellent short story fodder.
Anyway, I'm derailing this whole thing.
I'm sure most think Milla Jovovich would be the perfect candidate for playing Ghost, since she does play just about every action female role. And I'd agree, but I always thought Keira Knightly had more of the Ghost air about her, a fierce inquisitiveness behind the eyes. Of course, she'd have to put on 20-30 pounds of muscle and deflate her lips.
As for soundtrack, this is probably one of my few stories that has one. I was greatly inspired by Blade Runner's soundtrack as well as the anime Cowboy Bebop. A few select songs, all sort of somber pieces:
Rain by Yoko Kanno, sung by Mai Yamane
Metallic Rain by Vangelis
Blade Runner Blues by Vangelis
Happy bloghopping!
I love Keira Knightly. :) Sounds like a fun project! Thanks for playing with us today!
ReplyDeletehaha!!! I totally agree about Keira Knightly and her weight/lips :D
ReplyDeleteWow - you know your MC so well, and she's so interesting, I must encourage you to finish this. You already have the workings of a great query ;) And thank you for the mention! I must admit, I giggled when I saw my name - hee hee - just like that. Thanks! And it fun reading about Ghost. For what it's worth, she doesn't sound Mary Sue to me, even with the purple eyes :)
No problem! :)
DeleteI know one day I want to finish the story, there's just some obstacles of getting it right. And glad to know she doesn't sound Mary Sue!
LOL--great post! Maybe you should pull this one back out and play around with it some more. It sounds great! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll certainly try. Thanks!
DeleteYour photoshop skills are pretty epic! Mila is legit! I love her, and I also love Kiera Knightly--and I agree! They both sounds pretty awesome for this awesome character!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteMilla Jovovich is such a great person to cast in an action role! Also, if purple eyes is the only Mary Sue quality she has - I think that's okay! :D Thanks for joining in with the bloghop!
ReplyDeleteI had Ghost take on of those "Is your character a Mary Sue?" tests and she scored rather high. >.<
DeleteAnd happy to join the bloghop. :)
Who cares? I love Mary Sues - they get a bad rap. LOL.
ReplyDeleteHaha, they do, don't they? It seems like no matter what character you write, someone is going to find a problem with it.
DeleteYou should get back to writing your tale. Or your Ghost will haunt you (cheesy pun so very much intended!)
ReplyDeleteHa! God I hope not. I already have too many characters haunting me.
